REPORTS TO: Designated Administrator/Supervisor
SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
-
Routine manual work involving housekeeping and the upkeep of the physical plant facilities including the surrounding grounds.

Receives supervision from the school principal and the custodian
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
-
Sweep, mop, remove wax and apply wax to floors
-
Collect and dispose of trash properly
-
Maintain grounds and shrubbery
-
Wash window/blinds, clean woodwork, restroom facilities, classrooms, office areas, gymnasium areas, auditorium and any other covered area on school campus
-
Lift and move or re-arrange furniture and equipment as required
-
Climb ladders when performing certain assigned duties such as washing windows, changing light bulbs and inspecting/cleaning roofs and gutters
-
Perform other related duties as assigned, i.e. painting small areas and minor repairs including, but not limited to, painting, repairing glass, changing light bulbs, etc.

Be responsible for all school system owned tools and equipment as assigned

Other duties as assigned by principal
WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS WORKED:

Must be able to effectively communicate in Standard English both orally and in writing
EQUIPMENT USED:
-
Ability to successfully and safely operate various equipment including, but not limited to, push lawn mowers, riding lawn mowers, tractor mowers, buffing and/or polishing machines, vacuum cleaners, carpet shampoo machines, grass trimmers, grass edger, high pressure water cleaners, etc.
PHYSICAL INVOLVEMENT:

Standing, walking, reaching, bending, climbing and lifting 60 pounds is required
MENTAL INVOLVEMENT:

Must possess sufficient interpersonal skills to function compatibly with others
HUMAN RELATIONS INVOLVEMENT:

Must be able to work cooperatively with all school personnel including maintenance manager

Must be able to respond appropriately and accept commendations and recommendations

Must demonstrate sensitivity and understanding in interpersonal relations with persons of diverse cultures and backgrounds
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
-
Ability to perform routine manual tasks in the care, cleaning and general maintenance of a facility
-
Basic knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and equipment used to perform such work
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
-
12 month employee
EVALUATION:

Shall be evaluated in accordance with the Zachary Community School Board Personnel Accountability Plan.
